Have you ever said to yourself “I would do this If…” Or “
I would be a better person If” Or “No one ever told me that”. Or one of my personal favorites “I would have
more money If”. Whatever your excuse, it is time to realize that IT IS JUST
THAT….An Excuse!
WOW!! Are you getting tired of the excuses? Are you getting tired of giving yourself a
free pass for poor performance?
Not sure about where you are in life or what types of
people you have around you or have had, but I have heard all of the above and
then some.
I’m just frustrated that people find reasons not to fix
their own life. I mean if you can’t do
it for yourself well, who can you do it for?
There is a verse in the bible (not sure where) that says something like,
he who is faithful in what is least is faithful in much”. Which means today that if you can’t manage
your life earning 1500/month how in the world are you going to be responsible
for $5,000?
Is it the lack of money that is the problem? Or is it the lack of understanding of how to
MANAGE the money? People automatically assume that their money or financial
problems are tied to how much money they have.
And that’s simply not true.
A person’s money behavior is deeply rooted in your
psyche. I laugh when friends say things
like if I had more money I wouldn’t be broke or if I had more money my life
would be better…..REALLY?
Did you change anything in your life? Did you all of a sudden gain insight on your
own financial behavior so you could stop making the same mistakes? NO,
You Didn’t! This simply means that you are bound to
continue to have the same problems with $1500 as you do with $5,000. You are destined to repeat the mistakes you
have already made until you learn how to change your money behavior. You my friend are a poor money manager with
bad spending and saving habits.
If having more money and being able to do more with it is
your motivation then it is time to Invest in your financial education. Once you understand where you are in life you
can improve. Let’s not go any further until I share with you the book I read that is helping me to change my life and finances. This book has helped me improve my life and given me more money guidance that I ever received in school. And that includes college.
The Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker is a
great way to start your financial education.
Now I don’t just want you to think about managing your
money. I want you to also think about managing your time. What do you do with
it all day? What is motivating you right
now to go to work, school, build a business, buy a house, move, change jobs
etc.?
Most people go to work to earn money. The money is to pay bills/rent/mortgage/car
note/tuition. Money is a necessity of
life but it should not be the only thing you strive for? Think about the things you can do with the
money the places you can go. There has
to be more than just earning it.
Let’s go back to my example of earning $1500/month. How well are you managing your money? Do you live within your means? Are you putting money aside in a savings or
investing it in your retirement? What
about a business, are you making any money outside of your daily j – o – b?
Well I can safely tell you that if you are spending all your paycheck each week
and you do not have a business that’s making any money and no savings or
retirement then you probably are a poor money manager and could benefit from
some financial education.
To that I say stop making excuses for why you don’t have
the money you want and begin to change the things that you can. We must learn to manage what we have in order
to get more. I am no expert, but I am on
a path to better my own financial education and have improved my finances and
money management over the last few years.
Okay, for those of you that are already on the path and
understand how to manage your money. Start
increasing your wealth with investments, businesses or other streams of income. Below is a link to get you started. Then as
you begin to grow you will change your mindset and change your life and those
around you.
