It’s my first blog of the New Year and 2012 has come
in with a bang. Start this year off with
a Tabula Rasa (Latin) for Blank Slate or Clean Slate depending on the
translation. All the things that
happened in 2011 are gone and we have a new year to thrive, to love, to travel
and to be the best people we can be. Don’t
take this time lightly it is a gift. Tomorrow
is not promised to us.
I have put some goals and energy into the Universe
for myself like actively working on weight loss and re-enrolling in school to
finally obtain a Masters degree.
Anything that you have found yourself putting off for years, months or
even decades can be achieved. At the
bare minimum you can start. I mean not
just in your head, but write it down and really think about what your life
would be like if you completed this goal and write down the steps that will
take you there.
One of my favorite sayings back in the early 90’s
was, “Think It, Believe It, and Achieve It”.
I had no idea then what those words really meant or how significant they
would be in my life one day. You see,
everything we do starts with a thought some thoughts get us to new jobs and
help us start businesses. Other thoughts
get us DUI’s, fired, or cause unnecessary suffering. It is important to have the kind of thoughts
that propel us to be the very best US that we can be.
I have read and continue to read “Think and Grow
Rich” by Napoleon Hill. This book is the
epitome of believing something so strongly that it changes how we do things, it
changes how we live and it changes our level of successes. When I first saw the title many years ago I
thought how does someone “THINK” and grow rich.
I later discovered that it is the mindset
in which we believe that we can accomplish a certain task and it is the repetition
of saying and believing that makes it real and later causes it to come true.
Let’s side step a bit back to your 2012 goals. It is never too late to start working on your
dreams. Write down the top 10 things
that you would love to do in the year 2012.
Rate them at their level of importance to you 1 – 10. Now write down how you will achieve these
things, be specific. An Example is
losing 10 pounds. That’s great and all
but how? Are you going to walk a mile 3 x a week? Are you taking an aerobics class at the
gym? Are you limiting your calories to
1500 a day? Make sure your goals give
you a road map to achieve them. It’s one
thing to say I am going to do something it is another to put in place a plan of
how that is going to happen.
Love to hear some of your goals and action plans for
2012. As always you can leave a comment
or send me a direct email.
PEACE, LOVE & HAIR GREASE!
