The 48 Laws of Power - Lesson 1

There is a book written by Robert Greene copyright 1998 titled the 48 Laws of Power.  This book opens up the mind to a set of behaviors that can benefit most people with navigating through life.  I will attempt to provide each law with a bit of clarity so that it is easily understood and applied.

LAW 1: Never Outshine the Master:

Always make those above you feel comfortably superior.   Make sure your masters (superiors or managers) appear more brilliant than they  are  and you will attain the heights of power.  This law has two rules that are at work.  First you can inadvertently outshine a master simply by being yourself.  Some people are very insecure and others you may naturally outshine just by your own charm and grace.   Be very careful to see people as they are and just because the master, supervisor, manager, etc. likes you does not mean you can do whatever you want.

You cannot worry about upsetting everyone you meet.  If your superior is a falling star there is nothing to fear by outshining  him/her.  Do not risk outshining a feeble superior - it might appear cruel or spiteful.  But if your master is firm in their position, yet you know yourself to be the more capable, bide your time and be patient.  It is the natural course of things that power eventually fades and weakens.

If everyone knew The Secret, it wouldn't be a secret anymore

The book The Secret came out a few years ago written by Rhonda Byrne. This book possessed answers for the people who were ready to receive them and frustration to those who weren't. I happen to be one of those people who needed to hear exactly what was being said.

In a conversation I had today, I was reminded about some of the basic principles of attraction. By the very strength of our minds we create our destiny. Individuals have the power to attract things to them. Bob Proctor said it best, "Everything that is coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted to you by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you." (The Secret, 2006)

Why do you think that 1% of the population earns around 96 percent of all the money that's being earned? Do you think that's an accident? Its designed that way. They understand something. They understand The Secret, and now you must begin to shift your conscious mind and awareness so you can understand it to.

The Secret is just one book that teaches these principles. One of my personal favorites is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Napoleon Hill spoke to many wealthy people who articulated some basic reasons they were wealthy and others were not. Think and Grow Rich covers the Power of Thought, Desire, Faith, Autosuggestion, (Influencing the subconscious mind), Specialized Knowledge, Imagination and much much more. If this book is not in your home or office and you have not read it at least 2 times go get it, read it and continue to refer to it.

I bring up these books because, most of the people I know are in a battle with themselves. They want to go from poverty to wealth but can't seem to do it. Something "Always" gets in the way. We find ourselves circling the same old situations that never seem to improve. Well, here's the key, change your mind and you will improve your situation. Believe that you have the power to alter the course your life is going then take the steps to do it. The kind of changes I am suggesting don't just happen over night, but they do happen. The longest journey starts with a single step. Make today the day we take our first step and continue taking them until there are no more steps to take.

One last food for thought, another book to read is Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth Another one to keep and read over and over. If more people read these 3 books and truly understood how to effectively utilize them in their lives we could begin to get rid of poverty. Think about it...how many people do you know who identify themselves by their struggle, their job loss, sickness, The "Man"? How many times have we helped these people just for them to repeat the same negative unproductive behavior. There is a reason some people are in the situations they are in and it doesn't have anything to do with money, education, or opportunities. Take it from me, I used to try to save everyone until I realized not everyone wants to be saved.

Technology Can be Your Best Friend or Your Worst Enemy.

My Day! My Day! My Day!

In an over whelming day of all days I find my self singing Anthony Hamilton’s song, You’ll be Fine Again. And in this most STRESSFUL workday with computer malfunctions and software dumps I need to hear these words more than you know. I can’t believe this day went the way it did. OMG!!! Had I been anywhere else working on something different I would have thrown something at the computer and got the F$%# out of there. And Yes you guessed it, the nearest bar would have been my choice. But NO duty and obligation call so I stay, against my better judgment, Against frustration and the urge to kick the Damn computer ONE good time. I stay. Shit, some days it sucks to have ethics, a sense of duty and pride in your work.

I couldn’t get up. NO NO I could not leave and let the technology get the better of me. After all its there to make our lives easier…Right!! WELL RIGHT? Then why the hell was it working against me on this day, the day it could have been so much easier, but alas it was not.

I love chewing gum, but I hate technology sometimes. Today was one of those times when everything that could go wrong absolutely did. How was I to know that getting up late, forgetting to set my alarm clock and drinking 3 cups of coffee would lead to this. To bad I can't get a "Do Over" because I'd like to start this day from the beginning.
Surviving is what counts and I did that in spades. So here's to me and you and everyone who had a bad day.

Remember that Everytime you fall down, you are given the chance to get back up. Meditate on that a little.

Never Settle for the Crumbs of Life - Og Mandino

If you are not happy with where you are in life, you don't have to stay there. Don't you deserve better? Don't you want better for yourself and your future? Well, you are the only one that can make it happen. Sure, you've had some pretty rough times, even some pretty devastating ones. There is nothing which says that must be the norm. There are some very difficult challenges, and negative attitudes you will confront, but you are equipped to handle it all. There may be some pretty stupid ideas about who you are, what you can do and how far you can go. So What! People also said the world was flat and the moon was made of cheese! The only thing that really matters is what you think, what you believe and what you want. If you have the desire and the will you will be shown the way.
Greater is that within me than the problem in the world.  - Iyanla Vanzant, Acts of Faith

Fear No Evil

I will fear no evil, for thou art with me...Psalm 23:4
No Matter what is going on in your life Do Not Fear.  Things seem harder when we do not have faith in the Creator. Do not fear what people say, Do not fear what people do, Do not fear your boss or the employees, Do not fear your job or the economy.  For we can do all things through Him and if he be for us, who can be against us (paraphrased).  Do not fear disapproval, Do not fear judgment or darkness or divorce. Believe and walk in the power of the Creator and all things are possible.

Just take one day at a time. Be thankful for what you have and make the most of everyday.
